To further support literacy at a young age, the Kiwanis Club of Kirksville has completed its “Titles for Tigers” project. The project goal was to raise $1800 to purchase 100 new non-fiction books to add to the Kirksville Primary School collection. The club focused on non-fiction books at the suggestion of school librarian, Amy Bartig.

"We are very appreciative to the Kiwanis of Kirksville for making such a large contribution to our library. We were able to purchase over 115 non-fiction books. These titles will truly enhance the learning that is accomplished at Kirksville Primary,” said Ms. Bartig

The Kirksville Primary Library serves approximately 600 students and 60 faculty and staff members. Each child has the opportunity to check out two books per weekly visit, and some students return to the library daily to check out more books.

"We decided as a club to donate all proceeds from our fall fundraiser to purchase nonfiction books for the Kirksville Primary School library. As Kiwanians, we are always actively seeking ways to serve children in Kirksville," according to Club President Clay Hayden.
